July, Why?

Is anyone else startled that we are already more than halfway through the year? August will be here in a few days and I don't even know where July went. Was July even here? Like what did we do? So having these thoughts, I said to myself "Coco, it is time to take a pause and reflect on what we have done so far this year as well as what needs to be done." With that said, let's review shall we?

Highlights

Dancing - there has been so much dancing! In January, I took my first Afrobeats class which was incredibly difficult yet so fun. I need to find a new instructor so I can try that again. I also tried Flamenco and was part of a demonstration and the highlight of that was watching the little dance with me in the audience. I got back into salsa and bachata and while partner dancing is still incredibly difficult for me, I think it is a challenge I need. Embracing the struggle lol.

Steel pan - These are still happening! I wasn't able to take part in a parade but I am actively playing an instrument, like what?!? My mind is still blown away from that. I never thought I would be able to play in a band with others and actually play a song. Being consistent has been a struggle with scheduling but I am taking lessons when I can and looking forward to the next.

Books/Reading - I participated in my first pop up! After many years of supporting small business, I have started my own! As of today, I have read 45 books! Given the changes that have taken place this year, that number is impressive. Looking forward to more reads and also building my customer base with Coco Reads

What's Next

While it is great to celebrate the wins, I also need to acknowledge I am behind in some aspects. Moving forward, I will be focused on completing what is on my list of goals for this year. I still need to visit a new state (although does New Jersey count from my New York trip?) and I have only been to the beach once this year and the goal was 6. I also had on my list to use my passport. I will be planning my birthday trip to either Toronto or Montreal. I will also be focused on saving because I have dreams to make come true and debts to pay off lol.

Overall, I am happy with how this year is going. There have been heartbreaks (I admit I still think about that one man) but there have been way more celebrations! New job, new hair, new friends, new interests. I am feeling steady and happy and that is a great place to be in especially considering where I was last year mentally.

What about you? How is your year going? What are you celebrating?
