Y'all I messed up. Last year Tony Tone Toni reunited and had a concert in Inglewood. I did not get tickets. By the time I thought to look up tickets, resellers were charging over $300 for nosebleed. First of all, rude! Second of all, y'all ain't right (yes I am talking to you resellers that drive up the price of tickets). That concert was November 9, 2023 and I regret not going to this day. A lesson was learned though, when you hear about the concert, just buy the tickets!
And I have! It is a summer of music baby and I am over here happily movin' and groovin! It started in June with Janet Jackson. Admittedly, I did not get these tickets on presale. This was a super last minute decision. Like the concert was on a Sunday and I bought my ticket the night before while out at a pole show last minute. Janet has been performing for over 51 years (a fact that she made sure to remind us of and rightfully so) and she was so good! I sang my little heart out. To whomever was around me recording and you heard my voice all in your recordings, I am not sorry. Nope, in fact, you're welcome because it shows how dope that show was. If you have the chance to see Janet, just do it. She is out here dancing and putting on quite the show. The only regret I have is that I didn't see her while she was still performing "Would You Mind" during earlier tours. Again, just buy the ticket.
Back in April, it was announced that Missy Elliot (along with Busta Rhymes and Ciara) were going on tour. Presale was April 10th for a concert July 11th. I bought two tickets. Did I know at the time who was coming with? Nope. Did I care? Nope! All I knew was this my chance to see one of my favorite artists. I thought long and hard and extended the invite to my friend who I just knew would have fun and that I hadn't seen since last October. Another friend that I reconnected with also bought a ticket last minute in our second (coincidentally it is the same friend I went to Janet with, we are great at last minute stuff). Y'all I damn near cried from happiness! That was probably the best or top 3 concerts I have ever been too. Timbaland performed some of my favorite Timbaland and Magoo songs, Missy did every single song you would expect her to do and a few that were surprises. She danced, she sang, her dancers DANCED, there was story and movement, crowd involvement, just everything that is needed for a great show, was in that show. The concert started promptly at 7:00pm and we were out at 11:00pm feeling like we had a workout. Buy the ticket.
I don't currently have any concerts lined up for August but that may change. In September, we are going to see Usher. Those were bought back in January/February and I have never bought tickets that far in advance. I missed him in Vegas but I was not missing him here. I can't tell you how the show was since it hasn't happened yet but you already know what I am going to say: Just Buy the Ticket!
Are there any concerts that you are excited for this summer? Any artists I should check out? Let me know and perhaps I'll buy the ticket ;)
